:::seated at the top of a waterfall, the tropical forest about them as StarMaster tells his Sunny One of how he came to be, as a way to explain the disturbing reaction to the gift that he gave her..... of a taste of the power of the stars:::

StarMster:
:::his fingers smooth her hair and her face, as he looks up at the rapidly filling sky::: The first time I felt this.... as I said, I thought I'd been poisoned... I..I didn't understand, and nobody had a darn clue as to what the change was in me...but that night at about this time..all hell broke loose with me...because the minute the first star winked into the evening sky it was like a blaze of fire racing through me... I yelled a bit..:::faint laugh:::..and started pelting around the room... I even tried slamming shields up... nothing changed it, and then another star emerged, and it got worse...and so did I... and star after star, each one adding to the feeling... I didn't know at the time what my physical reaction was...but the few that saw it about had heart-attacks, because they swear to this day that I glittered and glowed, and got brighter and brighter.. All I knew was that I was slowly catching fire from the inside, and swore over and over again I'd been poisoned and made a few dire threats of pay back for it..

Sunrunr136:
How did you receive this??? I mean were you born with it?

StarMster:
It was a good hour that this went on...and then I stopped running around like a crazed thing and just dropped to the floor...out colder then a mackerel. ::looks down at her:::: It...it was a gift...a reward...though I didn't realize thats what it was for a long time... All because a silly, vain arrogant little snot took a dare. ::;smiles:::

Sunrunr136:
::cocks her head:: :What? Tell...please.

StarMster:
My pride got stung a bit back then... It was the standing dare at the time... I guess I'd been at the mountain, which at that time didn't have a name really...ohh...several years...and because I was the tallest even then I got a fair amount of stuff thrown at me...::;grins::: Mostly being asked to get things from the top shelf..

Sunrunr136:
::chuckles:: Darling...its not easy being short.

StarMster:
Good things come in small packages lover...Anyway... there was the basic idea that because of my physical size I didn't have much mind...and so would be stupid enough to take the dare...to climb to the very top of the mountain...and spend the night. Nobody had ever done this and come back...and there were the usual jibes about being a coward and so forth... with of course the female population watching and listening while I was pretty much ripped to shreds... Needless to say..I took the darn dare... and the next morning I started the climb.. Its not an easy one like the one we did today.. Its a big mountain, and it took me two days to actually get to the top. I got there at dusk, and was completely grateful to have done so.

Sunrunr136:
::watches and listens with rap attention:::

StarMster:
Funny..the entire time I was climbing the mountain I kept thinking that this was really stupid...that there was nothing at the top...and that the ones that didn't return probably got eaten by something or fell to their deaths... and that the only reason I was even doing this asinine stunt was to get some damn peace and quiet from the pest patrol as I'd taken to calling the half dozen or so that loved to hound me. Bear in mind here that the stupidity that they perceived was an act... ::;smiles::: Anyway..there I lay, practically kissing the flat ground under me... the first I'd felt in two days, and then when I'd caught my breath I stood up and looked around. :::sighs::: I... One day Sunny One I shall take you...because I cannot describe the sight...

Sunrunr136:
::her hands upon his arms caressing them softly as she listens to him:::

StarMster:
::;shakes his head a bit::: I stood up and promptly sat back down... and just stared. I'd never seen anything like it...I sat there fascinated for the rest of day light..and when dusk began to fall I became even more fascinated... There wasn't a sound Sun...total silence, deep and rich...and I fell in love with it. I watched each star emerge, and stared at them the entire night..at least so I recalled later when I returned..

Sunrunr136:
::her eyes glittering softly, fastened upon his face:::

StarMster:
What actually happened that night on the top of what is now Our Mountain was in truth very different... for when each and every star had made their appearance and began their nightly dance across the black velvet sky they got brighter and brighter..and began to sing... I.... ::;takes a deep breath, his eyes going distant and his voice taking on a softer deeper almost shimmering tone::: I stood and danced with the stars and they welcomed me with open arms... I danced all night with them, lost in the beauty of their song...and wept when they each bid me farewell as dawn approached... I begged them to stay, to dance some more... and the stars smiled and promised that I should always dance with them, for I was the first to ever do so and I had made them happy. Then they bid me farewell...and I slept, their promise to me seeming to be a dream that faded as soon as I awoke. :::blinks slowly and then closes his eyes for a moment, taking a deep soft breath:::

Sunrunr136:
::reaches up and caresses his cheek, her hand warm and soft::::

StarMster:
:::opening his eyes, smiles down at her:::: The stars did mark me that night...for when I had started the journey my hair had been as dark as a ravens wing...and rather..well... it wasn't pretty actually, rather dull and flat actually if I recall, as were my eyes... However, when I returned to my peers I looked as I do now... :::soft chuckle:::They dropped colored kittens Sun...and shut up on the teasing... it was several days later that the stars kept their promise to me...

Sunrunr136:
They came to dance with you? This tingling welcome?

StarMster:
::nods::: For you it is a tingle...for me it is their welcoming kiss...with all that that implies. See I had made some friends up on the top of the mountain...friends that cared...and that were willing to show a curious child all that they could. You've heard over and over that when the student is ready the teacher will appear..?

Sunrunr136:
::::laughs:::: Oh yes many a time.

StarMster:
::;soft chuckle::: Well this student with a curious and strong mind needed teachers of a higher caliber... and I had found them on a dare...and danced with them. The stars became my teachers.

Sunrunr136:
Very noble teachers...

StarMster:
:::smiles, glancing up at the now completely dark sky::: Very stern teachers... :::looking back at her::: They have little concept of humanity...even as I had little understanding of stars...they were hard but I rose to each task...not always gracefully mind you... It had its drawbacks though...for it made me slightly outcast for a time... but in the end...in the end it was the right course..

Sunrunr136:
You don't regret the mantel of leadership at the mountain?

StarMster:
No Sunny One...for I was destined to be as such. They, the stars, gave me my name actually...as a sort of...graduation gift I suppose...and perhaps in thanks... I had toward the end learned to wander through them with mind alone..and was doing such when I heard a cry of anguish..the cry of a star dying before she should... I still had my gentle heart, and the sound tore at me. I did what instinct drove me to do... I saved her. And in doing so did the one thing none had ever done...thus my name. :::small shy little smile::::
